We were planning on featuring Gabrielle Union at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of her film Riff Raff simply because she looked great and we were going to do a “Doesn’t she look great?” sort of post. All of that is still true, but when we saw the pictures up close, we realized we were going to have to make a shocking admission. See, the thing is…
We HATE novelty prints. Oh sure, they’re fun for craft projects or costumes or kids’ clothes. Lorenzo once made kitchen curtains out of a lemon print we loved and we still have the throw pillows on our bed that he made from some vintage Alexander Henry prints. But in grownup fashion, we don’t always love whimsical prints; partially because they feel juvenile and partially because we associate them with cheap textiles. That’s not fair to Miss Gabrielle or Prada, however. This dress looks amazing on her, but we have to admit, we liked it more when we thought she was in some sort of abstract stripe. What do you think? Does this have the level of sophistication you’d expect from Prada or does it look a little chintzy?
