It just wouldn’t be a Met Gala without Ri and A$AP there. And to the relief of those who love a sense of continuity and stability, they showed up in what can only be classified as their favorite style for the Met Gala:
Which can be summed up as “Fancy laying-on-the-couch outfits.” Remember when he showed up wrapped in a blanket? This time, she got the blanket and he stayed in his bathrobe.
Rihanna in Maison Margiela Couture
Joking aside, these are fabulous looks that really do play into their own style and image-making preferences. Rihanna’s whole approach to fashion for going on a decade now has been more or less “I’ll serve you a look if I feel like it, but I’m not fussing with it too much.” Granted, we’d never claim that this look is an easy one to pull off. That gown probably weighs a lot and wrangling that blanket so it doesn’t look a sloppy mess took some poise and consideration. It’s giving mother-goddess and we love how regal she looks in it. The jewelry and hair design are perfect accompaniments.
A$AP Rocky in Chanel
It’s cheeky and it’s kind of chic. We certainly can’t ding it for being sloppy. If anything, the flawlessness is baffling. How did you manage to show up in an immaculate satin dressing gown without a single wrinkle? Did they ship you in a box or something? The jewelry pieces are amazing, but we’d like this look so much more if he ditched the gimmicky gown.
