Oh no, you guys. Cardi B injected herself with The Substance and is about to explode all over the Met Gala red carpet.

Girl, what even is this nonsense? Knowing Marc Jacobs (which we don’t, in any sense of the word), he probably did think it was funny to wrap Cardi up in a “dress” that gives the impression she’s rapidly mutating underneath it. We suppose there’s some sort of less gross, more interesting inspiration for this mess, but we don’t care to learn it. Clownery. Good for her having fun with her fashion for the night, but this is a very silly look. We honestly think this was the kind of stuff Anna Wintour was hoping to tamp down on with this year’s fairly broad and basic theme. To be fair, the Met Costume Institute exhibit has a particular focus on the body and how it relates to fashion, so it’s possible he was taking inspiration there. Still, ss much as the public tends to want to see these over-the-top parade-float looks, we’d be more than happy to see a Met Gala that actually celebrated fashion instead of constantly giving the impression that it’s mocking it.
