Met Gala co-chair Venus Williams took a personal, fashion-based approach to the evening’s themes, preferring to avoid high costumery and making a sparkly, glam statement about herself.

The entire look is inspired by the artist Robert Pruitt’s painting “Venus Williams, Double Portrait,” which was commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery in 2022. The painting depicts a version of that stunning yoke collar, which was modeled on the Wimbledon plate and depicts scenes and items of personal importance to her. It’s a look that manages to be dazzling at the Met Gala level while also being quietly elegant and personal to the wearer. She looks beautiful. LOVE the hair.
