The cast of Emilia Perez, which wowed the critics at Cannes, snagged star Karla Sofía Gascón a historic Best Actress win, and is on track for serious Oscar consideration, hit the TIFF red carpet looking like winners. We suspect this crew is going to be unveiling some serious fashion over the next few months.

This style looks great on her, although the dress could use a little something in the way of sparkle or embellishment. In a similar vein, we’d have rec’d more jewelry and bigger hair.
Selena Gomez in Rodarte

This is gorgeous. We’re not big fans of spaghetti straps, fabric flowers or peplums, but sometimes, a bunch of disliked elements happen to come together in a manner that feels just right. She looks great and this might be one of the best things she’s worn on a red carpet (where her track record is a little spotty).
Zoe Saldana in Giorgio Armani

As sheer gowns go, this is a very pretty one, but we really hate the way it draws your eyes straight to her crotch.
Adriana Paz

It’s just okay. For all that silver, it’s a little low on sparkle and a little high on wrinkles.
Edgar Ramírez in Saint Laurent

He looks great, but he should button the jacket.
ABOUT THE MOVIE:
From renegade auteur Jacques Audiard comes Emilia Pérez, an audacious fever dream that defies genres and expectations. Through liberating song and dance and bold visuals, this odyssey follows the journey of four remarkable women in Mexico, each pursuing their own happiness. The fearsome cartel leader Emilia (Karla Sofía Gascón) enlists Rita (Zoe Saldaña), an unappreciated lawyer stuck in a dead-end job, to help fake her death so that Emilia can finally live authentically as her true self.
