We gave Murray Bartlett the spotlight for serving traditional menswear impeccably, and we also gave Nicholas Braun, Andrew Garfield and Seth Rogen a shoutout (by pitting them against each other) as they worked the hottest menswear trend on the Emmys red carpet. The majority of male attendees came in fairly standard tuxedos and formal suiting, but the following gentlemen opted to go a showier, more interesting and/or more stylish route. Why be normal when you’ve got so many options available to you? We salute you, gentlemen. But we’re still going to judge you.
Bowen Yang in Etro
That jacket is breathtaking. We would be running off to the men’s room all night just to look at ourselves wearing that. We hate to have to point out that the sleeves are a tiny bit too short.
Chris Perfetti
Honestly, we’re not entirely in love with the bow ribbons, but we are completely in love with the shoe choice. Overall, it’s a look to which he couldn’t be more well suited.
Colman Domingo in Dolce & Gabbana
We love the idea of this but we have some issues with it. He is definitely a man who can work a sheer shirt on the red carpet, but the collar on this one is pretty terrible. We also think the jacket is in dire need of lapels.
Himesh Patel in Ozwald Boateng
Just gorgeous. Love the sense of layering and texture.
Jerrod Carmichael
We really hate to be prissy about this because it’s clearly such a flex, but he’s so far away from the way everyone else is dressed that he looks like he’s at the wrong party. That is the entire point of it, of course. It’s a gorgeous coat and we love the pendant, but the rest of it doesn’t strike us as interesting.
Lee Jung-jae in Gucci
It just looks like the studs you see in an old upholstered chair. If Gucci was going for more of a BDSM vibe, we think they missed it by a mile.
Nicholas Hoult in Dior Homme
So pretty. We really love the unexpected flare of the pants and how much style they give the look.
Paul W. Downs
The flower’s a nice touch for an otherwise kind of underwhelming outfit.
Toheeb Jimoh in Dior Homme
This is gorgeous.
Tyler James Williams in Thrash
We love the pants, but we’re not as in love with the jacket because it gives the whole look an usher’s uniform feel to it.
Will Poulter in Dior Homme
No flare on this man’s pants. It’s nice to see the various options available to men in terms of style and silhouette right now. This looks spectacular on him.
