When Doja Cat stepped out onto the Met Gala red carpet, we originally – and extremely naively – assumed that she was sporting a design with some sort of trompe l’oeil effect that made it look like a wet t-shirt. Turns out?

It was just a wet t-shirt. Earlier in the day, she was photographed leaving her hotel wrapped in a towel and in the preceding days, she was seen around town and at events wrapped in Saran Wrap or in a sheet and a thong. There’s no deeper meaning to be found in any of it. When asked about it, she said she was paying tribute to the “flower of cotton,” but let’s face it: that’s bullshit. She’s on a body-baring kick and more power to her, but the Met Gala is about celebrating fashion design and this pretty much shits all over the very idea. As always, it’s good to remember that Anna Wintour approves every invite and outfit.
