Did you miss the first part of our epic rundown of Cathy “Coats” Cambridge’s many spectacular outerwear choices? Well, you should hop right over there and check them out before you scroll down for the rest of the list. The Duchess has worn many beautiful gowns and dresses in her time as a royal, but if you ask us (and no one has, but we own this site), her real style talents lie in her ability to model a seemingly endless succession of gorgeous coats. Walk with us, won’t you?

Mulberry, December 2014

She doesn’t always go for such focus-pulling colors, but the shocking pink of this coat works really well with the understated design and the black accessories.

We’d love to see this coat worn open or just a bit less buttoned-up. The print is interesting, but it needs to worn with a little bit of freer or looser vibe to it. Still, it’s gorgeous.

As we said in the last entry, her hat-wearing got better around 2019 or so. The coat has a military vibe to it, but the bold red and the jaunty little hat make it all a head-turner of a look.

We feel duty-bound to single out any time she sported a coat with a pattern or print. A houndstooth is a classic look and she looks just right for it.

To be honest, we think the black trim can come off a bit mumsy, but if the future Queen of England can’t dress a little mumsy now and then, what’s the point of it? It’s eye-catching. The high contrast of the look makes it photogenic too. Another well-chosen hat.

This feels almost shockingly contemporary by comparison. Great colors and pattern.

Something about the scale of her hats changed in recent years. She started wearing them higher off her head, like a crown or tiara, and she started (wisely, in our opinion) wearing her hair up when she sported them. The result is regal, chic, and feels very English to boot. And this coat is drop-dead gorgeous.

She’s worn quite a few green coats for Ireland trips and St. Patrick’s Day observations, but this one’s our favorite. It’s stylish but also feels very royal.
