Very busy ladies Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel took time away from their duties promoting The Devil Wears Prada 2 and The Christophers, respectively, to join forces and hit the red carpet fabulously for the London screening of their film Mother Mary. Congratulations on your very busy season, ladies. Remember to send your agents a fruit basket.
ANNE HATHAWAY IN IRIS VAN HERPEN COUTURE

So she’s just full-on method-dressing all the time, we see. To be honest, it does make sense to take different style approaches to promoting different films. So for her high-fashion comedy, she’s sporting high-fashion clownery, and for the drama about her Lady Gaga-esque character, she’s, well, dressing like Lady Gaga. We adore the designs of Iris van Herpen but this tends to make a good illustration of why they’re not great for the red carpet. We’re sure in a studio or runway setting, this can be styled and arranged to perfection, but girlfriend had to get in and out of a car wearing this thing and it clearly doesn’t travel well. We appreciate the choice, but we don’t think it works for the setting. It needs lighting and staging. We also don’t think the rather conventional pretty-girl hairstyle is right for it.
MICHAELA COEL IN LOEWE

This is a genuinely interesting design that suits her very well and fits with the kind of head-turning fashion it’s clear they’ve both settled on for this promotion. It also looks very comfy. But it’s hard to escape the impression that she looks like a skein of yarn with legs. Still, we like it for its oddness and for the way it centers her stunning face. The makeup is, as always, gorgeous.
