Princess Cathy came on like a raincloud as she kept things exceedingly neutral on the second day of her visit to Reggio Emilia, Italy. The Princess of Wales visited Remida, the city’s “creative recycling centre,” where she met with local business leaders to talk about supporting early childhood development in pre-schools. In other words, an extremely Cathy sort of thing to do. The look was unusually dreary, however.

Kind of an odd look, the longer we take it in. The pieces are very nice, of course. We just don’t think there’s a good argument for pairing the jacket with the skirt. The former is proportionally a bit short for the latter, for one. The jacket also looks like it was designed to be worn closed. And the skirt could use some pieces that provide a little contrast. It’s a nice change of pace to see her in low-heeled shoes, but it’s unfortunate that they provide the sharpest contrast with the rest of the look, which means your eyes tend to go straight to her feet.
