The stars of The Devil Wears Prada 2 – plus Donatella Versace – came out in high (if rigidly pegged to the film’s branding) style for the London premiere. In truth, the event, like so many London premieres, was big and glitzy and star-studded, but most of the stars were Britlebrities, so we’re limiting our judgment to these folks. You can catch all of our coverage of the various premieres and photo calls here. Let’s get into judging these corporate-branded looks!
Meryl Streep in Prada

It’s going to be such a crushing disappointment when she goes out to promote her next movie in the kinds of sensible and unfussy ensembles she tends to favor. We’re hoping her time indulging in high fashion to such great effect will maybe get her to be a little more exuberant going forward, but she’s never shown much interest in such things. Meryl, you look amazing and we don’t think any of your outfits on this tour have been hard on you (shoes aside). Please make a note of it. Fashion is fun! It can do great things for you!
Anne Hathaway in Atelier Versace

No. Sorry, Annie. You look gorgeous, but this dress design is silly and overwrought. The bodice of this thing is trying to do like five different things at once. Why does a strapless gown have a collar?
Donatella Versace in Versace

Anne, Donatella Versace looks more elegant than you do. Shouldn’t that give you pause, dear?
Stanley Tucci (in Paul Smith) and Felicity Blunt (in NH2)

He looks great, but boy, do we hate her skirt.
Emily Blunt in Balenciaga

It’s kinda fun, it’s kinda working, but we loathe whenever someone tries to turn a pair of pants into a pseudo-gown. Wear a gown! Or be happy in your pants choices! But trying to combine them always looks a little awkward to us. The necklace is a stunner but we think it’s out of proportion with the outfit.
Kenneth Branagh

Impeccable as always. We never realized until this promo tour that he favors high heels. They’re a little more noticeable with the suit he wore to the New York premiere. They’re subtle and his pants are usually cut correctly to make room for them. It’s so much better a solution for a man who feels height-challenged than a pair of lifts. Still, he needs to either lay off the hair dye or pay someone good money to give him some highlights and a more natural color. Pretty sure the stubble is dyed too, and that’s silly.
