We gave CFDA Award attendees/honorees Serena Williams, Quinta Brunson, Kim Kardashian, and host Anne Hathaway their own spotlight posts, but it’s time to round up the rest of these stylish gals and see how they did with their red carpet choices. Ladies, please step into the judging circle one at a time. Kittens, please put your judging pants on and join us on the panel.
Ariana DeBose in Jason Wu
It has an unusual color story that works really well for her. We don’t like the black straps, though.
Ayo Edebiri in Loewe
She’s never looked so chic. For once, we’re going to applaud the restraint in accessorizing. She looks really good in a stripped-back style.
Camila Mendes in Coach
First off, that bag does not belong on a red carpet, let alone anywhere near this dress. Second, this dress is horrible.
Chloë Sevigny in Christopher John Rogers
We want to like this, but she looks like a drawstring bag with feet.
Demi Moore in Carolina Herrera
Can’t argue with that.
Dove Cameron in Coach
She looks pretty great. While we think a shoe with a heavy silhouette is a good idea here, we’re not convinced this pair works. They draw the eye down.
Greta Lee in Loewe
See now here, we think there needed to be some judicious accessorizing. That neckline is uniquely gorgeous and we love how she looks in this dress, but we think a pair of simple, dramatic earrings would’ve been a good idea.
Gwyneth Paltrow in G. Label
It’s fine. The skirt’s too shiny, we think.
Hari Nef in JW Anderson
First, that does not appear to be a good color for her. Second, the design is interesting from the neck to the waist, but it literally falls apart after that.
Jane Krakowski in Cynthia Rowley
Looks a little fungal.
Kim Petras in Vintage Christian Lacroix
We tend to dislike tiered dresses, but this is dramatic and interesting. She looks great in it.
Laura Linney in Maria Cornejo
Oof. The gown is okay, but that cardigan is terrible.
Martha Stewart in Dennis Basso
Kinda fun to see Martha in big pants. This looks great on her, if a little heavy.
Mary J. Blige in Christian Siriano
This is fabulous, but she looks like she can barely breathe in it.
Molly Ringwald in Zac Posen
It’s a simple and classic design that is helped tremendously by the styling. Love that mullet for her.
Naomi Watts in Carolina Herrera
We feel like that top half deserves a floor-length bottom half. The proportions are off.
Rosario Dawson in Mara Hoffman
Out of every style choice you see in this picture, the earrings are the only thing we don’t hate. We’ll leave it at that.
Tommy Dorfman in Bach Mai
The top half looks like a butcher’s apron and that non-color does nothing for her.
Vanessa Hudgens in Vera Wang
It’s basic, but we’re not mad at it. The leather gloves were a great choice. We’d have liked a bigass necklace.
