PinMylos Champagne Bar and Restaurant – Fira, Santorini, Greece

It’s FRIDAY, darlings. You don’t need any further elucidation from us. Your seat awaits. In only tangentially related news, the work on the new giant hole 3 feet away from our bedroom wall continued further into the evening than we would have preferred and then kicked up again at 7 am.  We’re very happy for the families of these construction workers, who are no doubt going to have a lovely Christmas this year. We, for our parts, are going to have to move the recording of our podcast to the weekends (assuming these dudes aren’t getting overtime AND weekend work), so we’re afraid the podcast will have to wait until Monday. Sorry about that!

Diablo Cody will write the script for Aniston’s reimagining of the Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton, and Lily Tomlin classic.

Jennifer Aniston has found a new way to make a living by producing a remake of the Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton, and Lily Tomlin movie classic 9 to 5.
Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that the Morning Show and Friends star’s Echo Films production company will partner with 20th Century Studios for the upcoming reimagining of the 1980 film, which followed a trio of working women who band together to get revenge on their sexist boss (played by Dabney Coleman).

The Curious Case of Chris Pine’s Hair Length, from a Buzz Cut to a Bob in One Year: See His Evolution
From bobs to beards to buzzcuts, the actor has had a wide variety of hair looks recently — and we’re wondering what sorcery is at play

Chris Pine’s hair transformations will give you whiplash.
Over the past couple of years, the 43-year-old actor’s looks have run the gamut from clean-shaven and polished to long and scruffy — some of which have incited internet frenzy. This week, he debuted his longest — and blondest — hair yet at the premiere of Poolman in Los Angeles.
Pine first began experimenting with longer hair at the March 2022 premiere of his film All the Old Knives. On the red carpet, the star sported long hair and a bushy beard, a departure from his usual clean-shaven face and short hair.

Titanic’s richest man and the gold pocket watch: Timepiece owned by John Jacob Astor, who went down with the famous ship, is now for sale at auction
After making sure his wife was safe on a lifeboat, John Jacob Astor stood smoking on the bridge of the Titanic while it sank into the icy waters. The 14-carat pocket watch that was recovered from his body is now for sale

A gold watch which once belonged to the richest man to sail on the Titanic is coming up for sale at auction.
The watch once belonged to the legendary American magnate, John Jacob Astor. Astor was one of the world’s wealthiest men when he boarded the ship in 1912. A relic of a bygone world, Astor was an investor, writer, developer and once a colonel in the Spanish-American war. At the time he was worth $87 million, probably equivalent to $2.75bn today. Astor was last seen smoking on the bridge of the Titanic as the ship went down. His body was found seven days later and identified by his initials sewn into his lapels.

Pet Shop Boys on Calls From Madonna, Partying With Liza Minnelli and the Kylie Minogue Collab That Wasn’t
The synth-pop supergroup popping up everywhere from ‘Saltburn’ to ‘All of Us Strangers’ release their 15th studio album, ‘Nonetheless,’ on April 26.

Look around and you just may find yourself amid a Pet Shop Boys renaissance.
Of course, the English duo — consisting of Neil Tennant, 69, and Chris Lowe, 64 — never went anywhere. They have been steadily putting out music since their landmark 1984 debut, Please, which instantly established them with timeless songs like “West End Girls” and “Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots of Money).”
But Pet Shop Boys’ deep catalog has been plundered in recent years everywhere from Madison Avenue (“Opportunities” showed up in a Super Bowl ad for Allstate) to Hollywood (several classics were used to wonderful effect in two of last year’s zeitgeistiest movies, Saltburn and All of Us Strangers).

The power perfumes of 2024 don’t scream, they whisper—these 7 scents know how to command a room
If a Calvin Klein skirt suit was a fragrance…

Power perfumes have historically been hard-hitters. Classic women’s fragrances like Yves Saint Laurent’s Opium, Dior’s Poison and Guerlain’s Shalimar might spring to mind. The most iconic power perfumes make a statement, offer an otherworldly level of sillage, and scream for attention. There is no such thing as ‘polite on the nose’—the most iconic power scents barge their way into a room and scream ‘heed’.
In 2024, however, such a brazen approach to style, beauty and perfumery has fallen out of favour.

Eva Longoria on failure: “It’s not me, it’s you”
How to blaze a trail: Eva Longoria joins Jane Fonda and Helen Mirren in helping empower women to be brave not perfect

Longoria is passionate about empowering women to embrace their failures. Fierce and determined, there’s not a shred of regret when she talks about what it’s taken to get to where she is. But that doesn’t mean her life has been without setbacks. She went on hundreds of auditions in her early career—including for Hitch (she narrowly missed out on the role to Eva Mendes)—and more recently, she’s struggled to break into directing.

The power of choosing to be childfree
There’s a freedom in embracing your childfree status and recognising that you’re alright as you are and living accordingly

When you start twigging that maybe you don’t want children, it can be a confusing time. Your phone starts popping off with friends’ announcements, pictures of blurry scans and first birthday parties. You think, should I want this? Should I be jealous? But you keep getting on with your life, no matter what society or your purse-lipped auntie tells you. Maybe you book the holiday you’ve always wanted, change jobs or cities, ditch that boring fella or lassie your friends tell you is a ‘solid choice for your future’. Then you do an internet search and find out there are loads of childfree people like you – and they are organised!

Baby Reindeer‘s Nava Mau: ‘I hope Teri and Donny’s relationship encourages greater compassion towards trans people’
She “deeply” understood her character’s story, and hopes the show will interrupt cycles of violence and silence.

Filmmaker, director and actor Nava Mau plays Teri, a trans woman who Donny falls in love with, sadly subsequently subjecting her to the shame that he feels around his sexuality.
Her performance is one of powerhouse proportions, and the response to Baby Reindeer has left her feeling overwhelmed and humbled. “It really means a lot to me that people are not afraid of the conversations that this show explores,” she says.

These are the best watches for women in 2024, from Cartier to Casio
Forget arm candy, it’s all about the wrist now.

The best watches for women are a subject of constant debate. While some may look for a piece that does it all – reads your texts, tracks your steps, measures your heart rate and so on – others might seek something that simply tells the time. […] What are you going to wear most often? Do you want a stainless steel strap, silicone, leather? Are the mechanics of a watch important to you? Would you prefer one that’s been handmade as opposed to one that’s not? Told you, it’s no easy feat.

How to manifest your 2024 goals using nail polish colours
Good nails, good vibes.

Wondering how to manifest your future? You might want to consider changing up your nail polish colours.
Yes, really! According to colour and glamour magic (yep, that’s the real name for this phenomenon), each shade has a different spiritual meaning and can therefore help you visualize and manifest your future from your fingertips.
How do I know? Well, I asked the experts, for one, but have also experienced it firsthand (literally).

Inside the Secret World of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show
An excerpt from the new book Dogland explains animal behavior—in the ring and in the stands.

They booed the poodle. This was at Westminster 2020, in Madison Square Garden, just a few weeks before COVID emptied sporting arenas around the country. It was my first Westminster. And from inside the Garden, I noticed something I hadn’t known from watching the show on TV: the crowd gets pretty beered up.
The final seven dogs that year included a clear crowd favorite: a golden retriever named Daniel. Golden retrievers have been one of the most popular dogs in America for decades. They originated in Scotland, and you should know for entertainment purposes that the generally recognized founder of the breed was a man named Dudley Coutts Marjoribanks, who was referred to as Lord Tweedmouth.

What Does the Future of TikTok Look Like in the United States?
On Wednesday, President Joe Biden signed a long-discussed bill that could ban TikTok in the United States (or, at least, force its owner, the Chinese company ByteDance, to sell it), representing a major blow to an app that draws roughly 148 million users per month in the US alone. While it’s hard enough to imagine a world in which US users can no longer scroll their TikTok FYPs and watch silly little videos, the possible ban has much further-reaching national and global implications. Below, find everything you need to know about the (presumptive) future of TikTok in America.

Why Is Everyone Wearing Stickers All of a Sudden?
I’m a lifelong sticker enthusiast, from validating gold stars to satisfying scratch-and-sniffs. My children mock me, but Hello Kitty stickers still adorn my laptop and birthday cards, as evocative to me as a tube of Bonne Bell Lip Smackers. (When I saw that Olivia Rodrigo had decorated her face with clusters of stickers for the cover of her debut album, Sour, I felt a kind of spiritual affinity.) But lately, stickermania has extended well beyond those of us who harbor a nostalgia for decor that once covered the insides of our lockers or the bottoms of our skateboards.

Spoiler Alert: Leftovers for Dinner
How to host a dinner party for nine using a pre-trash haul from Too Good to Go and other food-waste apps. Carb-averse guests, beware.

“This is shockingly delicious,” a pulmonologist friend and guest at a potluck dinner I hosted a few weeks ago said, as she lifted a third forkful to her mouth. “I’ve never seen anything like it. What is it?”
“Great question!” the comedy writer who’d brought the mystery entrée said. She poked at a striated, gray, pucklike object with a knife. “It looks like meat that archeologists discovered. It came from a food truck on Second Avenue, and it’s vegetarian.” Not much of a clue.
Eight friends and I had gathered that night to save the planet.

Revisiting the royal wedding of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon and the future King George VI
The wedding of Prince Albert and Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon – parents of Queen Elizabeth II – took place 101 years ago today

He was the second son of King George V who was never supposed to be crowned King, so when Prince Albert, Duke of York (the future King George VI), wed the Hon Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon on 26 April 1923 (after asking her three times to be his wife), the ceremony was more low key than those of previous future monarchs. Even ‘Bertie’s’ younger sister, Princess Mary, had received publicly funded street decorations for her nuptials the year prior.

Beyoncé Showed Her Hair Being Washed. Here’s Why It Matters.
In a video on Instagram, the singer provided fans a rare glimpse of her routine.

Beyoncé’s hair has been scrutinized for years. Usually spotted in wigs and braids, the pop star has mostly styled her hair with extensions, as many celebrities do. But her longtime use of weaves has made it hard for some to believe that her hair is as long as it appears in the video.
These claims have driven her fans, her hairstylist and even her mother, Tina Knowles, to attest publicly that Beyoncé is wearing weaves by choice, not out of necessity.
