Everybody’s favorite aughts Fashion Girl Keira Knightley has a new movie dropping on Hulu and she’s been spending the week serving it up on a variety of promotional appearances. Let’s take a look! And then judge her!
At MoMA’s BOSTON STRANGLER Screening in VIVIENNE WESTWOOD
We suppose it makes a certain sense to go dark for a Boston Strangler premiere. It might seem weird to be standing there in some goofy Rodarte dress with those words floating behind your head. Still, we’re surprised to see her in something so “gothic romance,” since she was stuck in that style (and career) rut for a good while. It’s…okay? We guess. If it works at all it’s because she’s so well suited to it, but we hate how shiny it is and it looks like that corset is laced up with something she took off her sneakers.
At LIVE WITH KELLY AND RYAN in GUCCI
This is sharp and has the kind of “springtime in the city” feel you’d want for a New York sidewalk pap shot. The black leather pieces come off a little heavy, but we kind of appreciate that she didn’t go for the more expected brown or neutral beige options. Love the shape of that jacket.
On THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON in SIMONE ROCHA
Yeah, no. This is just way too juvenile in tone. We’re honestly surprised to see her dressing like this, since it seemed like she wanted to get away from that preciously retro costume drama sort of style. She’s no longer an ingenue but still looks like a model. She could be working some really sharp, even edgy looks right now to perfection. This sort of puffy-sleeved stuff isn’t helping her.
