Miss Rita went shopping at the Versayce store.
Look, we get it. Those boots and that dress? God intended them to be together. Or Donatella did anyway. And if you want to keep the Versace merch as an option in your promo style rotation, it might be best to just do as the Lord commands. And to be fair and honest about it, we really can’t think of a shoe option that would somehow be more appropriate for the gown and we’d be hard-pressed to find an outfit that’ll make the boots work as well as the gown. You put her in gold naked sandals and the look becomes a little generic. You pair those boots with literally anything else and the overwhelm the entire look. No, Donatella’s right to insist on their pairing. We just tend to recoil from such unimaginative styling. It looks so fashion-doll to us. Super-matchiness and lack of interpretation aside, it’s an extremely high-impact look; one that seems tailor-made for models over mortals. For that reason alone she deserves some props for making it work as well as she’s doing here.
