Cannes Film Festival 2026: Ruth Negga in Balenciaga at the COWARD Premiere

After highlighting and spotlighting several of Cannes jury member Ruth Negga’s more discussable looks this week, we are pleased to announce that her team finally got every detail right for her look at the premiere of Coward. And it’s kind of a shame, actually.

Because this is the most conventional, and if we’re being bluntly honest, least interesting look she’s sported all week. We are forced to come to one of two conclusions: either she isn’t suited to the quirkier, weirder styles (not likely) or her team doesn’t know how to make them work for her (far more likely). We hope they figure it out, because she shouldn’t feel pressured to wear basic styles just because her team tends to be good at putting them together. At any rate, she looks absolutely gorgeous here and there’s nothing wrong with working a classic style when it’s done well. Her makeup looks pretty good too. Love the earrings.

As the First World War drags on, Pierre, a soldier newly arrived at the front, is eager to prove himself. Behind the lines, he meets Francis, who decides to lift the spirits of his comrades by putting together a theatre show. While the violence continues, both men try to find ways to escape the brutality of war, even if only for a moment.
