Two things before you scroll down: First, this does not end in a skirt. Consider yourselve warned. Second, we can’t quite believe we’re saying this about Miss Tessa, but her posing here has done the garment a disservice.
If you look at the runway shot, you can tell this was clearly designed with the idea that the wearer not raise their arms while wearing it. Of course you can be opposed to the very idea of such garments, but certain fussy formal styles do require that the wearer pose and stand in a certain way for the best effect. Think of it this way: some guy in a slim cut tuxedo should not be raising his arms over his head while posing for pictures because he’ll ruin the line of the suit. It’s kinda the same deal here. Those are poofs are supposed to stay down in order to look as the designer intended. We can understand the impulse of wanting to do something – anything – for the camera when you’re posing at home, but if she’d walked a red carpet at a premiere in this, she likely wouldn’t have been raising her hands to heaven. We’re saying all this because we really like the top and think it has a lot of drama to it when it’s worn correctly. We cannot, however, sign off on the pants. We think pants could absolutely work here, but that textile is hellaciously cheap-looking, we’re sorry to say. Still, it’s an interesting look that probably should’ve been saved for the day when our celebrities can finally be released into the wilds of the red carpet, where they can thrive and cavort as nature intended.
