Teyana Taylor’s Oscar campaigning style was one for the ages, but we wondered if she wasn’t going to soften her trademark kick-ass, hard-edged, body serving style once awards season was in her rear view mirror, Judging by her look for the Billboard Women in Music Awards, the answer is yes. And no. She contains multitudes.
The Yes: This is romantic – in some ways – and not as body-baring as her usual fare, with way more of a retro vibe than her preferred ultra-modern one. The No: Well, come on. It would be hard to classify a look like this as “soft,” especially when you consider that, in true Victorian style, the embroidery on the bodice is human hair. Unfortunately, while the hair and makeup are as gorgeous as always, everything below that is kind of weird and problematic. We don’t like the shape of the corset or the dirty ombre effect of the skirt. We HATE the boots. But we’ll let y’all make the final call here:
