BREAKING: Queen Maxima of the Netherlands pulled that iconic move known as The Maria Von Trapp Maneuver and had a dress made out of some old household linens, in this instance, evidently an afghan of some sort.

We should note that she was making visit to the municipality of Zaanstad as part of the “Zaandam-Oost Pact 2024-2044” which is an alliance between various civil organizations to improve development opportunities. A very royal sort of engagement, in other words. Okay, first things first: That’s the best her hair has looked worn down in a long time. With that compliment out of the way… we’re actually not hating this dress as much as you might think. Get rid of all the fringe and it’s fine; a bit heavy, but fine. We think it would be improved if the buttons were blue. As per the uzh with Max, there’s a problem with the accessorizing. Such a heavy dress really doesn’t call for a heavy pair of boots and that metallic belt looks awful with it. Notice how much more flattering the dress comes across in the pictures where she’s carrying flowers and you can’t see that weird choker.
