The Pope came to The Late Show in Chanel. Feel free to use that sentence as your next writing prompt, but we’re referring of course to Pope Tilda I, who doesn’t hit the U.S. talk show circuit all that often, making this visit something of a pleasant surprise.
While we would never question Her Holiness’s instincts, we do find ourselves wondering why she wasted these spectacular vestments on a TV set where the lighting’s only so-so. Chanel rarely does right by her, but this is perfect. Sleek but structured, darkly dramatic but sexy, and just a little bit weird. Should’ve saved this one for the BAFTAs or something.
