Saoirse Ronan is gearing up for a killer Oscar campaign, as it’s been confirmed that she’ll be gunning for both the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress trophies for her roles in The Outrun and Blitz, respectively. At the Paris premiere of the former, she gave us a little preview of what we can expect from her on the style campaigning front. As we noted when we studied her Oscar campaigning style in 2018 and 2020, you never really know what you’re going to get from her.
And we bet you didn’t expect her to be sporting a wool laundry bag, did you? This has a very modern feel to it, which we consider a good thing, really. A lot of leading lady actresses from the UK and Ireland tend to be shoved into overly romantic styles, partially because of the kinds of roles that regularly get offered to them. This has a slight edge to it, which is also nice to see. We don’t love the volume up top, though. It works in the front, but the way it all hangs off the back makes it look like it’s stretched out and poorly fitted. We also think the design would be more dramatic in black, which is not a thing we say often. Anyway, we’re looking forward to more unexpected choices from her in the months to come.
