And now, a thing about which people are bound to have opinions. Prince Timmée on set and in costume as the icon Bob Dylan for the film A Complete Unknown.

Right off the bat: costume’s fine, hair’s almost, but not quite there. He remains too pretty for the part, but that’s nothing new with biopics. It’s always dicey to dive too far into making suppositions about the quality or direction of a film based on initial set and costume pictures. Which isn’t to say it’s not fun to do so or that we haven’t done it for years, with varying results. We thought Renee Zellweger looked like a potential disaster as Judy Garland, a part for which she won the Oscar for Best Actress, but we also took one look at the first shots of Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan shooting Maestro and predicted everything from the Oscar nominations to the style of the film to the potential backlash over the use of prosthetics. Our point is that any suppositions are just that. They can go either way. On the surface, we feel someone like Dominic Sessa would be more appropriate for this part, but then again, on the surface, we’d never have predicted that Austin Butler would make an award-worthy Elvis. But even if we have a hard time buying Prince Timmée as Bob Dylan, there’s no denying that he’s currently a major box office draw who can also act, has a large fandom, and on perhaps a minor note depending on your perspective, has a Russian Jewish mother, all of which make him a no-brainer for the part. We’ll wait for more info to make further suppositions.
