The Marvels and Lessons in Chemistry star Brie Larson went in two very different style directions for this awards-show-heavy weekend. In fact, she went to one awards show dressed like a Marvel star and another one dressed like the star of a prestige period series. We’d say she covered her bases nicely.
At the Screen Actors Guild Awards IN VERSACE
Here’s the big, bold, superhero movie dress, with a little touch of Barbiecore to it. The design is simple, but the results are pretty spectacular. We generally don’t like when a design utilizes twisted fabric because it almost always looks bulky and awkward, but it really works in both of these pieces. The proportions and weight of the fabric are just right for it. Keeping the styling clean and unfussy was the right way to go. She looks fantastic.
At the Producers Guild of America Awards IN CHRISTIAN LACROIX COUTURE
This, on the other hand, looks a little stale to us. To be fair, it’s twenty years old. We don’t necessarily hate the dress, but we dislike the mermaid hem and we think that bow element at the bust looks chintzy. Get rid of the bow and the brooch and get yourself a statement piece of jewelry. That would finish this look off nicely for us.
