The minute the SAG AFTRA strike ended we started saying (and writing and tweeting) that the world deserved to see all of the Barbie promo tour outfits Margot Robbie was scheduled to wear when it started. Granted, we think the tour was mostly over at that point, but we couldn’t help feeling like one of the biggest red carpet stories in years (her looks went viral in a way we rarely see) had been cut short. Well, guess what? She’s BACK. It’s not all Barbie cosplay from Miss Margot, but she is definitely back to living la vie en rose en ce moment.
The big premieres and photo calls are well behind her, so the clothes for now are quite casual and low-key. This is honestly pretty cute. In so-called “normal” fashion, we wouldn’t love all the matchy pink pieces. We don’t think the corset goes with the rest of the look at all. Took the plunge. Her stylist Andrew Mukamal posted this Bottega Veneta look she wore to the Deadline Contenders event, based on the “Cherry Pie Picnic” Barbie. Again, super cute and somewhat low-key. It’s campy fun, it’s not a cliched Barbie look, and she looks great in it. But when you’re talking about low-key Barbie fashion…
You just can’t find a lower key than that. Personally, we’re more in love with the idea than the reality. Pink pajamas with pink feather trim and pink mules sounds like fun, but this feels a little drab to us. The pajamas look too flimsy and the trim barely looks like it’s attached.
