It’s a gorgeous gown and we love the pattern and colors. There has to be a better way to protect her modesty than simply throwing a scarf over her. At the very least, make it a big, dramatic scarf in a rich color. That looks like a hankie.

On the other hand, if Avantika wanted to hand over her modesty scarf to Ella, we wouldn’t object — not because we’re scandalized by this but because it’s so ugly and unflattering.

We don’t necessarily dislike silver/gold combos, but we think you have to be judicious about deploying them. In this case, we don’t like how over-textured everything is. The silver trim would work better if it were simpler. Still, she looks pretty great.

Nicholas is sporting a great look. Love the proportions, but we’d have preferred a leather belt. Will and Jack are fine, but boring — although we appreciate that they didn’t slack off for the occasion.

Kaling created “Not Suitable for Work” and executive produces with showrunner Charlie Grandy (“The Sex Lives of College Girls,” “The Mindy Project”) and 3 Arts Entertainment’s Howard Klein. The series is produced by Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television, where both Kaling and Grandy are under overall deals.
