The undisputed queen of the 2023 red carpet has returned. All is right with the world. If things had gone a little differently this year, we think everyone would still be talking about Margot Robbie’s masterful Barbie promo fashion, but the Barbie tour was cut short and she disappeared from view just as the movie became a huge worldwide sensation. As a producer of the film, she made something well north of fifty million dollars on it, so we aren’t suggesting you should shed any tears for her. On the contrary, we need you to put your judging pants on because girlfriend is clearly done with the Barbie drag.

Yes, those are, in fact, gigantic velvet pants worn with a sheer corset. In a way, we feel like giving her this one. For one, she’s here to support her Barbie co-star (and Saltburn‘s director) Emerald Fennell. For another, she spent half the year in some of the most conventionally retro, borderline twee fashion doll looks the red carpet had ever seen. It’s time for a little fashion fuckery. Still, while we support the impulse to get a little freaky with her fashion, this is a fairly ridiculous outfit.
