What’s this? A Barbie premiere without a pink dress? Has Margot Robbie finally choked on all of the Barbieness and opted to go her own way. Oh, you sweet summer child. Of course she’s still Barbie-ing her ass off. It’s just that Miss Barbie Millicent Roberts has a very long history of wearing high-fashion items without a speck of pink in them. For instance, here she is looking heavy-lidded and seductive as 1960’s “Solo in the Spotlight” Barbie:

And here’s your girl, proving once again that she and her team know exactly what they’re doing:

Yes, this is very high-end cosplay rather than something we would consider strictly fashion. Truth be told, we were getting a little tired of the all-pink Barbie costumes, so deploying this version at this moment, was pretty smart of her team. She looks spectacular, of course. In fact, outside of the actual movie, this may be the closest she’s ever come to looking like a real-life Barbie (although that business suit look was also eerily accurate). The look here is pure Hollywood glamour, Barbie-style. And we think it’s perhaps a little notable that certain elements of Barbie’s style don’t scale up particularly well. That ruffle at the hem is wonderfully on point, but it would look a little silly on anyone who isn’t trying to do Barbie drag.
