For St. David’s Day Princess Cathy put on her best Welsh-themed finery as Prince William took on his new role as the Colonel of the Welsh Guards. We tend to like covering Casual Cathy more than we like covering Military Cathy, but there’s no denying this princess has really mastered the art of dressing like a royal wife.
She’s always been really good about dressing in a vaguely military aesthetic for events like these without tipping over into cosplay. She looks very sharp. The coat is gorgeous, the gloves are interesting in a way she rarely allows herself to be anymore, the boots are ever-present, Queen Elizabeth’s Welsh Guards brooch, and the Leek are firmly in place. Locked and loaded, princess style. We really can’t find fault with any of it. The hat isn’t to our tastes and tends to give her that military dictator’s wife feel but that’s a minor quibble.
