The Queen just keeps racking up the wins. After a week of lesser men grabbing at her hem in pathetic attempts to tear her down as she floats winningly past them, Lizzo showed up at the 2022 MTV VMAs in a look that says as loudly as possible “Deal with it, losers.”

As we noted on the Twitters last night, a dress like this is very clearly not a last-minute choice, so we don’t really think Lizzo chose it in response to specific comments about her looks. If anything, this is just Lizzo being the Lizzo we already know: bold, stunning, completely incapable of receding and totally unwilling to make herself smaller. That midnight blue is gorgeous on her and this may be the first time we’ve ever truly appreciated those sheer gloves. Love the matching lip and the insane amount of gold she’s got on her head. She looks like some sort of fantasy queen figure. We’ve never looked at a red carpet ensemble and wanted a tiara added to it more than this one. Our only dislike is the slicked-back hair. We think a hairstyle that met the volume of the dress would balance the look out a little more. Still, there’s no denying the power of it.
