Jessica Chastain attended the Ralph Lauren Home Collection party in Milan, as one does. Unfortunately for her, we’ve kind of hit the wall on her style choice for the occasion.

This year, for whatever reason, as soon as the calendar started creeping toward Spring, all of the celebrities started wearing leather and brown as if they’d received some sort of mandate. We don’t understand who decides these sorts of things, but we’re about to say something we don’t think we’ve ever said during the month of April through all our many years of opinionating: We’re tired of looking at so much brown. Look, we get that pastels for Spring are just as much a cliche as florals. We can understand why a pale redhead, for instance, wouldn’t want to spend a lot of time in pink and butter yellow. We’re not even suggesting a return to those hues. We’re just really tired of all the Thanksgiving gowns. Anyway, this one actually looks great on her (because of her coloring) but we hate the choking neckline and that awful D-ring sash. The bag is nice. Her hair looks fantastic. Wear blue next time, please.
