Like the Wade-Union post, we’re really only giving this look the spotlight because it pleases us so much. And also because there was an inexplicable (to us) backlash against it on social media.
Talk about dripping with luxury. Sure, the dress looks a bit heavy and perhaps the sleeves could have been a little less voluminous or the wrap a little smaller. There’s definitely a sense of it weighing her down. And we’d have loved it more if it had been a full turban and she’d worn her hair up. But quibbles aside, we responded really well to the exuberance, glamour and old-school luxury of it all. It’s not a Gilded Age costume, for which we’re grateful, but it has the feel of an aristocratic expatriate or a really fancy spiritualist to the upper classes. And it looks like she’s absolutely living for it.
