Maggie Gyllenhaal had an amazing night at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, picking up the trophies for Best Feature, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay for The Lost Daughter. To mark the occasion and take her victory lap, she wore a pretty eye-popping Gucci number that tends to check off all her style boxes and served us shoulderpads FOR DAYS. Husband Peter Sarsgaard showed up looking an utter mess, as is his way.

It’s got that vaguely 1940s feel to it that tends to suit her so well, but the longer you take it in, the more you see all modern elements and embellishments. The only one we truly don’t like is the lace panel. We also wish the hem were a little higher and an entirely different pair of shoes were on her feet, but we really like how bold and loud this is. Love the huge shoulders (she would have slayed on this week’s Drag Race runway) and the chain fastener.
