Style File: THE IN BETWEEN Star Zoey King in Giuseppe di Morabito, Dolce & Gabbana and Bella Freud

Posted on February 10, 2022

Joey King’s got a little supernatural love story thing called The In Between coming out tomorrow and she’s been doing the press rounds in a range of looks. Let’s assess, shall we? It’s what we do.

Love that coat lining. The outfit’s nice (even if it looks itchy as hell) and the fit is impeccable. We just wish it wasn’t so close to her skin tone because it doesn’t photograph all that well. To be fair, these are not ideal picture-taking condistions. Don’t like the sandals at all, not least because they look really silly on a New York street in February.

It’s nice to see she’s getting some mileage out of that coat. We don’t blame her. It seems to pair well with just about anything, given how different this look is from the previous one. If she switched out the sheer hose for black tights, added an ankh or gothy sort of cross pendant, and sawed the platforms off those boots, this look would be perfectly suited for a starlet in 1995.

Can’t say she’s not switching things up. This is a cute enough suit, but we think the jewelry and bag are doing a lot to give it a little edge. We wish she’d switch up her hair as much as she switches up her style.
