We love this gay weirdo. We also greatly admire the choice of this ensemble, which still allows him to express his own queerness exuberantly, but has a certain level of restrained elegance to it that suits the occasion. “Restrained elegance” in a clear-heeled platform boot, mind you.  No one would have cared if he showed up in something pink and sequined, but given how adept he is at understanding branding and image management, we think it’s more than clear this choice sends a message about how seriously he takes this honor. And he just looks great in it.
