If we were perhaps slightly less classy bloggers than we are, we might have posted a headline more along the lines of “ROYAL BOOK WAR HEATS UP!” But alas, we are far too dignified for such things. Cathy Cambridge celebrated the release of her book Hold Still in much the same manner as we did when our book came out last year when we strolled the grounds of our palace, press in tow:

Later, she went to the National Portrait Gallery to meet with some of the photographers whose work is featured in the book.

Boy she’s really feeling that ring. The coat is, of course, absolutely gorgeous on her, even if the style is a bit on the plain side. But the fit is flawless and the bag is chic. It’s kind of interesting to see her toting a little purse around, QEII-style. Personally, we don’t think beige would’ve been the color choice to coordinate with a coat this vibrant, but maybe she was trying to go with a whole theme around the Band-Aid on her thumb.

We’re joking about the royal book war, but the timing is notable in a minor way because Meghan Markle just announced the publication of her own book; a children’s story based on a poem she wrote for Harry’s first Father’s Day, which sounds like such a Meghan sort of thing to do. The world being what it is, people instantly criticized her on a whole bunch of ridiculous grounds, including plagiarism.

Anyway, Cathy looks great, we hope her thumb doesn’t hurt too much, and we congratulate all the duchesses on their various book deals.
