That is pretty much the quintessential Scarlett Johansson look. We’d swear we’ve seen her in this exact style about a hundred million times, give or take. But first: congratulations on the wonderful reviews you’re getting, Scar. Hope you ride this wave all the way up to Oscar night. Your creative and professional achievement should be recognized.

But oof. Girl, your dress is a mess. We have to admit, there’s a part of us that’s almost impressed by the choice to wear Louis Vuitton on this night. That house has been spitting out haute cray for years now. Most actresses who can smell their Oscar nominations would choose to go classic and elegant at a time like this. If we’re being really kind and probably overthinking it a little, there’s an argument to be made that she’s being a little punk in her choice to flout the norms so loudly.

But it’s still a mess, let’s be clear. Overdesigned and awkward skirt, dull and stale bodice, weird af zipper placement.
