Laura Dern in Zimmermann at the “Marriage Story” Los Angeles Premiere

Okay, so. We absolutely love this.

Like, super-duper love this. And yes, we know. That might sound just a little crazy, given we’re talking about a bright orange, lace prairie gown. It’s definitely a lot, but all it needs is the right wearer and the right styling. Which is where the issues start popping up. Miss Laura is extremely well suited to a gown like this, partially because it feeds her need for bold fashion and partially because it plays against your expectations of her. The thing is, it kinda looks like no one bothered to tell her that. She comes across a bit dubious on the merits of this one. Which would be a shame, because all it needs is a confident her and the right styling choices. As to the latter, the hair and makeup’s okay and we think the necklace works, but what on earth is she wearing on her feet? Are those suede boots? With a lace dress? We guess it could work in a sort of Stevie Nicks kind of way, but not with those earth-toned things.

In sum: a great choice for her that didn’t quite stick the landing.
