Credit where it’s due: Donald Glover devised a look for himself a few years back and he’s done an admirable job of staying consistent with it, keeping it bold and unique, and finding variations in the style. There is no one in the mainstream celebrity sphere working a look quite like this on the regular:
Admittedly, we found this turn to be a bit on the gimmicky or costumey side of things when he first started taking things in this very ’70s, very Teddy Pendergrass sort of direction, but he won us over. It’s a style that looks great on him and we’ll always count it a good thing when a celebrity breaks out of the conformity box and develops a look that no one else is attempting. Do we wish he’d throw in a modern twist or a bit of an interpretation to get it all away from being so literal? Yes. A little. But a bigger part of us can’t help but applaud how good it looks on him.
