Cathy Cambridge Prints a Pretty Picture

Posted on June 25, 2019

The Duchess of Cambridge attends a photography workshop in London with Action For Children and the Royal Photographic Society, to which she was just named Patron, taking over for the Queen.

It’s not as rare a sighting to see Mrs. Cathy in a print as it is with her sister-in-law, who sometimes comes off fearful of them, but it’s still a bit of a pleasant surprise when she makes a public appearance in one. Especially if she also takes a different style and silhouette out for a spin at the same time.

It’s … just okay. We have no doubt that the print reads as delicately pretty up close and in person, but the scale and color story leave it looking a bit muddy for promotional pictures. It’s always great to see her shake things up just a little and of course a floaty sort of summer day dress is entirely appropriate for the occasion, but we don’t love the sleeves or the sash. Cute espadrilles, though. If they were a pale or dusty pink, it would help tie the whole look together a bit more. Still, she looks pretty and on-point. We’re just quibbling over the details, as we’re prone to do.
