All things considered, the poledance for The Nutcracker and the Four Realms seems to have been kind of a short-lived one for a Disney holiday film. But credit to Miss Mackenzie, she’s still got a few pink dresses she wants to get out of her system while the film’s still in theaters. This may not be her night to shine, but she decided to act like it was anyway. Respect.

Here’s the thing: Doesn’t this look WAY more appropriate for her own film premiere than the CMAs?

Not that it’s inappropriate for the venue. Despite the fact that prairie dresses are the hottest fashion trend of the year, they remain pretty much unheard-of on country music award red carpets. We used to think it was because no one wanted the Loretta Lynn associations, but now we like to think that everyone silently decided to retire her jersey, so to speak. Anyway, our point is that this is fine for the CMAs from a style or thematic sense, but it really just looks like something she had left in her promo tour rotation after it seemingly got cut short. It very much reads like a sweetly twee take on a holiday party dress. But that’s just us reading the red carpet tea leaves. As we noted, she’s staying on brand and that’s not a bad thing.
