On Day Three of our Met Gala coverage, we’ll be slamming groups of people together based on somewhat flimsy premises, because how else do you expect these two bitches to opinionate on hundreds of looks? For this go-round, we’re looking at the silver and gold gals. But don’t go calling this a trend or even part of any theme, because metallics, like black dresses and red dresses, are forever-faves on most formal red carpets. Hit it, robot girls!
Ciara in Celia Kritharioti

We realize that a look like this might invite a lot of social media mockery, but we actually love the Dragonball hair, especially in combination with the shades. The gown is legitimately stunning and we love the jewelry choices, including the gold bands. It’s a fierce but fun look.
EJAE in Swarovski

It’s gorgeous, but we have to admit the larger stones are overused. We don’t mind them in the yoke, but the band around her waist doesn’t help the design. Love the subtle shading in the bodice.
Grace Gummer in Gabriela Hearst

Grace, you had us until the hem. The gown is a classic and it looks great on her, but that panel gives the impression that she walked through an oil slick on the way in.
Hailey Bieber in Saint Laurent

We briefly questioned whether we should include this one in this post, since it’s mostly blue, but like we said, we’re slamming them all together now. Besides, we like the combo here. So many times, a gold or metallic gown is just that, with no contrasting color (Grace Gummer’s unfortunate hem aside). We like the boldness of this combination.
Margot Robbie in Chanel

This is elegantly restrained for her, which is kind of nice to see. We could do without the feathery trim, which adds nothing to an otherwise sleek design. A delicate pendant would not have been remiss.
Serena Williams in Marc Jacobs

Sis can go and be the demurely elegant co-chair, but Serena said to hell with that and went full Amazon warrior for the occasion. We love the boldness of it and that sandal design is insane.
Simone Ashley in Stella McCartney

She looks hot and we can’t get mad at it. It’s not an interesting design and we’d argue it’s also not quite at the level of the Met Gala, but it’s hard to make the argument that she looks bad.
Tate McRae in Ludovic de Saint Sernin

Gold lace can go so tacky so easily. We were actually okay with it until we got to that insane pile of ruffles on the bottom. The design of the bust, however, is genuinely pretty.
Teyana Taylor in Tom Ford

We realize it’s a form of blasphemy or an epic case of missing the point to say this about a Teyana Taylor look, but… it’s too much. Putting aside our dislike of fringe, it’s shapeless and completely obscures everything that makes Teyana such an exciting red carpet presence.
