We interrupt all of this Met Gala gownery coverage to check in with Cathy Plain and Tall. The Princess of Wales stopped by the University of East London for the launch of the social and emotional development guide of the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. Obviously, it wasn’t a day for sparkly princess-wear.

But even so, that’s awfully drab. She always looks good in rich earth tones, but we don’t think tans and beiges have ever been where it’s at for her. The only way this would work is if she wore a contrasting darker blouse, preferably with some sort of trim, and a contrasting pair of pumps. But your girl prefers to keep it all matchy and tone-on-tone, so here she is, a paper bag princess. Kind of an insane rise on the royal pants, no?
