Princess Cathy went dotty for a cause close to her heart. The Princess of Wales attended a Cancer Research UK reception at St James’s Palace in London to mark the charity’s 125th anniversary. And yes, that first sentence was a pun, because despite what you might have registered at first glance, she’s not sporting polka dots.

It’s tiny hearts — and we have to say, that’s an unusual level of preciousness coming from her, although it’s fairly typical for Rodarte. We can’t say we’re loving this one. It reeks of 1990 and it has too much of a church dress vibe to it. The royal press doesn’t do that thing where they try to claim that everything she wears is some sort of homage to Princess Diana as much as they used to, but this really does look like something the late PoW would have worn. Granted, that likely has more to do with the cyclical nature of fashion and the limited style choices available to royal women. She’s doing a Queen Maxima level of matching, down to the shoes, bag and jewelry. The overall effect is to suggest a type of theme-dressing. It’s fine, but it’s not what we’d call stylish. And the royal curls continue to curl.
