Hamnet star Jessie Buckle has always had a somewhat dicey red carpet history, but we never got the impression that she wasn’t a fashion girlie. On the contrary, she tends to display a fairly acute sense of how she wants to present herself. It’s just that her style, which has an edge and a slightly punk vibe at its best, doesn’t necessarily translate well to most movie promotion activities. She stopped by Colbert to discuss the film and remind awards voters of its existence and we think she mostly nailed the style.

We wouldn’t normally praise an all-black ensemble, but it really pops with her coloring and the different finishes on the two pieces lend it some depth instead of turning her into a void. Let’s face it: she was born to wear leather pants. We just wish she’d worn them with boots.
