The stars came out in ULTRA-finery for the BET Awards and virtually all the looks were jawdropping in one way or another. Doechii and Keke got their spotlight posts, but we’ve still got a lot of ground to cover, so put your judging pants on and help us out.
Andra Day in Tony Ward
This is both gorgeous and weird.
Ciara in Cong Tri
The proportions are awful and that horsetail train is the worst thing we’ve ever seen in her lives so far (slight hyperbole).
Da Brat in Anthony Lattimore
Listen, if this were a costume on Andor, we wouldn’t hesitate to sing its praises. This isn’t chic in the conventional sense, but it’s actually very good, very powerful design. She’s making a statement about who she is and how she sees herself in relation to this event and we’re genuinely impressed by how cohesive and well-styled it is. Everything from the neck up is spectacular. Our only complaint is with the pants length.
Dominique Thorne in Rahul Mishra
Cute.
DomiNque Perry
It’s not the best shade of brown for her. Everyone’s wearing their strapless dresses too low lately, but the waist here is too high for it to work.
GloRilla in Baba Jagne
That is some impeccable drag. The dress design is pretty amazing and her hair looks great with it. We’re never going to love that style of sandal. Sorry, but it flatters no one.
Jharrel Jerome
The pants are really cute, but the top is doing nothing.
Jordin Sparks in LaPointe
Ooof, no. Terrible color, bad hem length, dumb feather placement.
Kandi Burruss in Michael Costello
It’s… um… doing a lot. The boob flowers look silly to us and that’s just about the least interesting design for a sheer skirt we’ve ever seen.
Kevin Hart
Never looked so good.
Keyshia Cole
The pose doesn’t tend to evoke a sense of confidence with the design. We don’t mind a tacky frock, but the wearer’s gotta work it.
KJ Smith in Monsoori
The color looks great on her, but we really dislike that neckline.
Machine Gun Kelly
Clearly on his best behavior, which is kind of nice and respectful of him.
Shaboozey in Eleven Sixteen
Fucking fabulous. He’s been bringing it every time lately.
Skai Jackson
Oh, look at that. The second least interesting sheer skirt design we’ve ever seen. That looks like something you put over the potato salad at a picnic to keep the flies off it. The bodice is pretty cute, though.
Snoop Dogg
This is perfect.
Spice in EmagineBybukola
It’s giving “Senator for the Galactic Republic” and we’re not mad at it.
Tamar Braxton in Michael Costello
A classic baddie dress, but it doesn’t need the gloves.
Tia Mowry in Misha
Now that is a gorgeous shade of brown. She looks flawless.
Tisha Campbell in Anthony Lattimore
That is a whole lotta dress. The belt embellishments don’t do a single good thing for it.
Trinity Whiteside
The color is gorgeous on him but those pants are entirely too slim and short. The loafers should’ve been brown or a lighter color.
Yung Miami in Rabanne
Can’t argue with that fit. The sandals, on the other hand, should’ve been swapped out for a bigger pair.
