Our favorite thing about Emily Blunt, aside from every single line reading she delivered in The Devil Wears Prada, is that, as a person who stutters, she has lent her star power to the American Institute For Stuttering’s Benefits Gala every year since she first became famous.

It’s kind of a shame. This is a genuinely interesting design and we can understand why she wouldn’t have wanted a plunging neckline for an event like this one, but you can’t just pin it shut like that, especially when there’s pleating involved. Still, the color is unexpected and looks great on her. The design is elegant and exuberant at the same time; appropriate for the event, but the kind of dress that’s meant to turn heads and take great pictures. That’s why you invite stars to your gala in the first place.
