Ciara came to the Outstanding Mother Awards and boy, did she ever switch things up on the style front. Prepare yourself for some SUPER-twee style.

Girl, you almost had us until we got to the anklets. We think it’s a good thing when a person has the ability and shows the foresight to code-switch their style according to the situation. Obviously it wouldn’t do anyone any good if Ciara showed up to the Outstanding Mother Awards in some drop-dead sexy body-baring ensemble. But there’s a way to switch up your style or tone it down for different occasions that won’t come off like someone forced you into an outfit you’d never wear otherwise. This, with its pearls and gingham and lace-trimmed anklets, is not the way. It comes off like “See? I’m being good!” Also, we can’t tell if the scale of the ginghams doesn’t match or of the skirt is being stretched out, partially because the top is clearly too snug. If you’re gonna do Good Girl drag, you’ve got to get the details right.
