The Karate Kids Legend premiere was mostly a sausagefest, which is why it was so savvy of star Ming-Na Wen to take this moment and run with it. Her co-stars can go work their boring dressy-casual dude looks, but the lady was here to slay.
We can certainly understand the argument that this isn’t exactly reinventing the wheel. It’s as classic a look as it gets and there’s not one twist or update on it. We’ve been bemoaning the overuse of opera coats on the red carpet for a while now and we still hold onto that stance, but the overall style simply looks great on her. We go back and forth on whether the matte bodice works with the sparkly skirt, but even if it doesn’t, it’s not a dealbreaker. The one thing we’d have liked was a colored stone, either on the hand or the neck. The look needs a focal point.
