Oscars 2025 Style File: THE WILD ROBOT Star Lupita N’yongo in Chanel Couture

Lupita Nyong’o wore Chanel to both the Oscars and the Vanity Fair party. If you’ve seen anything from the house that Coco built lately, that news might fill you with dread. We’re happy to report that the star of The Wild Robot got only lightly Chanel’d by her choices. And by that we mean each got a little goofy, but she’s enough of a pro at working couture that it mostly didn’t matter.

The skirt is very pretty and of course she looks amazing all in white and silver. The bodice is a bit odd, what with that pearl-embellished bust peeking out from that crystal corset. We might not mind it so much except for those pearl tassels, which take the whole design one step too far (and also look a little tacky). The pearl straps are also just a little bit too much design for one dress. The jewelry is gorgeous and we love the pearls in her hair.

This is a lot simpler; the kind of dress she can work half-asleep. We have no issues with it, although we can’t say we love it. The feathers look a little too chicken-y and the ombre effect isn’t as smoothly executed as we’d prefer.
