No one should be pressured into watching or supporting a TV show for any other reason than it’s a great show, but we’ll be honest here: our initial reaction to the news that the trailer for Under the Bridge dropped was “We don’t care. We’re watching for Lily.”

Fortunately, it looks pretty good, although the dead teenager drama is a bit played out at this point. Still, we may as well be honest and admit we’re only watching for Lily. We figure if you felt she got robbed of wins during awards season, the best thing you can do for her is to support her work. All too often, actors of color who get their first nominations wind up struggling for prestige work in a way their white peers don’t have to and many of them never achieve that career high again. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen. Watch for Lily. Or don’t! Just a suggestion!

 

ABOUT THE SERIES:
SYNOPSIS: “Under the Bridge” is based on acclaimed author Rebecca Godfrey’s book about the 1997 true story of fourteen-year-old Reena Virk (Vritika Gupta) who went to join friends at a party and never returned home. Through the eyes of Godfrey (Riley Keough) and a local police officer (Lily Gladstone), the series takes us into the hidden world of the young girls accused of the murder — revealing startling truths about the unlikely killer.
CAST: The series stars Lily Gladstone, Vritika Gupta, Chloe Guidry, Javon “Wanna” Walton, Izzy G., Aiyana Goodfellow, Ezra Faroque Khan with Archie Panjabi and Riley Keough.
CREDITS: Based on the best-selling true-crime book “Under the Bridge” by the late Rebecca Godfrey, the series was adapted for screen by Quinn Shephard and is executive produced by Samir Mehta, Liz Tigelaar and Stacey Silverman (Best Day Ever), Shephard, Geeta Patel, who will also direct, Godfrey and Tara Duncan. Riley Keough will executive produce with Gina Gammell (Felix Culpa). The series is produced by ABC Signature.
The series premieres on Hulu with two episodes on April 17, with new episodes launching weekly.
